Office decarbonisation and energy efficiency in companies
Achieving simultaneous heating, cooling and domestic hot water for a historic office building, without invasive intervention and without gas, with a view to energy optimisation?
A Milanese manufacturing company managed to achieve this goal by installing three A-THERM80 units, high-temperature heat pumps powered by propane. Working in synergy, these solutions ensure maximum environmental comfort while drastically reducing energy consumption.
The request: energy efficiency in a historic environment
A leading company in the manufacturing sector initiated a decarbonisation project to achieve ESG certification and reduce CO₂ emissions. With this in mind, the decision was made to replace the gas heating system and chiller used for summer cooling, introducing a solution that would reduce environmental impact without profoundly changing the existing plumbing system.
The company was looking for a solution that would guarantee heating, cooling and domestic hot water using a single machine, while maintaining thermal comfort and optimising project costs, minimising structural interventions.
The Dethermine Solution: a high temperature propane heat pump, all inclusive
As part of the tender, Dethermina proposed a series of 3 propane heat pumps with natural refrigerant R290 which, working in a modular and flexible manner, are able to cover all heating, cooling and domestic hot water needs at the same time, modulating the load according to needs and environmental conditions, without losing efficiency.
This solution has made it possible to maintain the existing plumbing system and the fancoils already present in the rooms and to avoid having to intervene on the spaces, thus minimising structural work and allowing for optimal climatic comfort at the same time.
The Dethermina industrial energy efficiency project
After an initial inspection, Dethermina proposed a system that optimises the energy efficiency of buildings, with minimal interventions to the existing system. The installation took place quickly (6 months from the order), with the connection of the machine to the remote monitoring system for constant control of performance. The optimisation of project costs was achieved thanks to the simultaneous use of three A-THERMO80 heat pumps capable of working in a modular manner so as to guarantee simultaneous heating in some rooms and cooling in others, feeding off the installed photovoltaic system and reducing noise, a critical element for improving acoustic comfort in offices.
The energy efficiency of Dethermina
The heat pump ensured a reduction in emissions and contributed to the company’s decarbonisation. The system enabled optimal environmental comfort, both thermal and acoustic, thanks to noise reduction solutions such as Axitop silencers.
Modularity made it possible to simultaneously manage heat and cold, adapting to the seasonal needs of the offices and ensuring high energy performance.
Results:
- Reduced CO2 emissions and full compliance with regulations
- Excellent heat output and improved environmental comfort
- 20-year guaranteed future use
- Switching from natural gas heating to a green solution in just 6 months
- Minimisation of masonry work
- Load modulation to deliver heat and cold proportionally to outdoor conditions, without losing efficiency
- Reduced noise, improving the working environment
- The project supported the company in organising its ESG activities and will contribute to a better score in the next sustainability report
Thanks to the Dethermina solution, it was possible to achieve a modular and flexible plant that reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved environmental comfort and met its energy transition goals.
